Diving in Italy
The scuba diving in Italy is possible on a variety of stunning dive sites. In addition, as the Mediterranean Sea has seen lots of ship traffic over the decades, it’s a great location for wreck diving. In fact, there are numerous culturally noteworthy spots, and spectacular underwater features. The Ligurian Sea is a wing of the Mediterranean Sea. Portofino is the hub of diving here and is considered the birthplace of Italian scuba diving. A short distance from Rome you will get some exciting diving. Aeolian Islands
A UNESCO-listed volcanic archipelago north of Sicily where divers explore lava and pumice walls, gorgonian-covered drop-offs, wrecks and underwater fumaroles around seven islands with two active volcanoes.
Bay of Naples
Campanian gulf combining the sunken Roman ruins of Baia, the reefs and caves of Capri, Ischia and Procida, and the Punta Campanella marine reserve at the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula.
Egadi Islands
Islands off Trapani inside one of the largest marine protected areas in the Mediterranean, offering dozens of dive sites with Posidonia meadows, the caves of Marettimo and ancient Roman wreck remains.
Pelagie Islands

Portofino Marine Protected Area

Tuscan Archipelago
