Complesso dell'Accademia

Also known as: Grotta dell'Accademia

Orca Diving describes four separate caves here, all shallow and each with its own character. The Academy Cave has an entrance at about 8 to 10 m and a large chamber whose rising floor Evasioni Blu compares to a lecture hall, with light falling through holes in the walls and roof. A circular opening known as the Washing Machine leads through a narrow passage taken one diver at a time. The Cave of the Saint can even be visited by snorkellers and holds an air pocket where a statue of Saint Bartholomew stands. Small groupers, juvenile conger eels, crustaceans and nudibranchs shelter in the caves.
