Grotta delle Cipree
The wide entrance lies in a gully just beyond the cove of Sutta a Za' Lisa. From there a sloping floor and a dark tunnel lead upwards to the surface inside the rock, where divers can take out their regulators. The largest air chamber is more than 10 m across, with small stalactites, dripping plant roots and a little beach made of cowrie shells. Inside the cave live orange shrimps, unicorn shrimps, crabs and the cowrie Erosaria spurca, while fresh water seeping in forms a halocline. The exit passes beams of light and emerald colours at the cave mouth, and good buoyancy control is needed throughout.
