Cala Giacone
The bay takes its name from the large pebbles of its beach, called ciacuni in the local dialect. From the pebbles and seagrass in the centre a broad expanse of white sand starts at about 15 m and stretches away to around 22 m. Because sand is rare at Ustica, this is the place to see species such as razorfish, weevers, comb stars, red mullet and turbot. Big boulders on the sand create canyons and passages with groupers, octopus, slipper lobsters and nudibranchs. Its shallow, sheltered layout makes it a site for beginner courses and an interesting night dive.
