Punta San Paolo
The bay is protected from the prevailing winds, so it is often dived when other sites are too rough. A deep crack known as the Spaccazza di San Paolo splits the promontory from above the surface down to around 16 to 20 m, its walls coated in orange cup coral and colourful sponges. Further out, rocks covered in red gorgonians host lobsters and biscuit sea stars, and groupers, amberjacks and bream patrol the wall. On the sandy bottom lies the hull of an old fishing boat of about 10 m, surrounded by an unusual number of biscuit sea stars (Peltaster placenta). Pipefish hide in the Posidonia inside the bay, which is shallow enough for beginner courses.
