Punta dell'Arpa
Also known as: Scoglio del Cornuto
From a sheltered bay the dive follows a Posidonia meadow to a field of huge lava boulders and pinnacles that reach down to a sandy floor near 40 m. The deeper rocks are covered with wide fans of red gorgonians (Paramuricea clavata), which local centres describe as the best in Ustica's waters, together with yellow gorgonians, sea roses and orange cup coral. Closer to the coast the boulders form arches, passages and a small cave where nudibranchs, octopus, scorpionfish and black moray eels hide. Groupers rest on the rocks while barracuda and amberjacks pass in the blue. Profondo Blu calls it a three-in-one site, with a deep, a middle and a shallow section suited to different levels.
