Secchitello
Secchitello lies off the south-west of the island, south of Punta dell'Arpa, and is reached by a descent in open water without a reference line. Several pinnacles rise from a sandy bottom at around 50 m, forming walls, valleys and boulder fields. Large schools of barracuda and amberjacks circle the tops, with dentex, snapper, groupers and occasionally tuna. The rock faces carry big colonies of red and yellow gorgonians, basket stars and the yellow branches of gold coral (Savalia savaglia), which dive guides point out as a highlight. Because of the depth and the frequent current it is treated as one of the most demanding dives of the island.
