Cassone di Filicudi

Also known as: Cassone

From the area of the Grotta del Bue Marino a short route over a rockfall and Posidonia leads to sand, where a big dark shape appears in the blue. The concrete caisson, which I Delfini describes as a raft sunk from a military ship, now acts as a refuge for forkbeards, conger eels, moray eels, spiny lobsters and occasionally European lobsters. Fishing nets cover part of it, and swallowtail seaperch around it attract passing pelagic fish. Because of the depth it is recommended only for experienced divers.
