Banco Scosso
Between Panarea and Basiluzzo submerged rock chains rise from depths of up to 100 m, and one large spire climbing from 60 m to 23 m is what local fishermen call Banco Scosso. The visibility is usually so good that the whole mountain is visible on the descent, often with schools of dentex and black seabream. Moray eels, dusky groupers and large scorpionfish sit in the cracks, and long-spined urchins and small spiny lobsters live on the vertical wall at the base. Where the wall meets the bottom an easy cave holds a dense colony of Plesionika shrimps. Strong current and depth make it a dive for experts.
