Utila

Honduras

Utila is the smallest of the main Bay Islands and is best known as a budget-friendly diving destination with frequent whale shark sightings.

Utila sits at the southern end of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System and offers more than eighty documented dive sites. It is particularly known for regular whale shark encounters, most commonly reported February to April and October to December. Surrounding seagrass beds and mangrove forests provide nursery habitat for regional marine life.
