Big Rock
The site is typical of Utila's south side, with sand patches running from the beach into deep water. A reef wall parallel to the coast starts at about 15 ft and meets sand at around 50 ft, which continues past 100 ft. Flounders, seahorses, pipefish, garden eels, stingrays and upside-down jellyfish are found in the sand, and stargazers and flying gurnards are occasional finds. Spotted morays, spiny lobster and porcupinefish live around a coral head west of the mooring.
