Stingray Point

Also known as: Sting Ray Point

A wide sand channel splits the reef and slopes from shallow water into deep water, and stingrays are often seen digging in it for food. West of the channel grows some of Utila's healthiest coral, including large stands of pillar coral among gorgonians and brain coral, while vase sponges grow to the east. Seahorses, garden eels, pipefish and flounders live in the sand, and spotted eagle rays pass by. Cross Creek warns of fairly heavy boat traffic in the area.
