Ningaloo Reef is Australia's largest fringing coral reef, stretching along the coast of northwest Western Australia and forming the core of the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Site.
Ningaloo Reef runs about 260 km along the shoreline of the North West Cape region, including the area around Coral Bay and Exmouth. It is unusual among large reef systems for lying very close to the mainland. The Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2011, also encompasses Cape Range National Park. The area is known for seasonal whale shark aggregations, manta rays, humpback whales, dugongs, and nesting sea turtles.
