Santa Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles County, California, is a long-established scuba diving and snorkeling destination known for clear water and its Casino Point dive park at Avalon.
Santa Catalina Island lies in the Southern California Bight. Popular dive sites include Lover's Cove and the Casino Point Dive Park, described as the first non-profit underwater park established in the United States. Several marine protected areas surround the island, and it is home to the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center at Big Fisherman's Cove, which includes a hyperbaric chamber.
