Cape Cortez
Also known as: Cape Cortes
Cape Cortez on Catalina's backside offers two dives, one on each side, both with large rocks resembling quarry rock and plenty of crevices, ledges and small walls. One side has denser kelp and more rocks, the other is more spread out. Rockfish, kelp bass, sheephead, sea lions, bat rays and many gorgonians are found, and the shallows have eelgrass and large calico bass. Octopus are notably common here.
