Blue Cavern Point

Blue Cavern Point juts out east of Isthmus Cove between Sea Fan Grotto and Big Fisherman's Cove, and its rock is riddled with caves. The highlight is a large wall and cavern near the middle of the reserve, with sea fans hanging from the ceilings near the entrances. Because the area is a marine conservation area where anchoring is not allowed and the bottom drops away quickly, boats drop divers and follow them on a drift. Nothing may be taken, and the protection shows in large calico bass, sheephead and passing pelagic fish such as yellowtail and giant black sea bass. Visibility is usually good, which makes it a strong wide-angle site.
