Church Rock

Church Rock stands off the east end of the island, just around the corner from Avalon, yet often feels like a remote outer island. Large boulders and rock form crevices, mini-walls and swim-throughs, with sand on the edges of the reef where halibut lie. Kelp, big calico bass, sheephead and abundant lobsters make it popular with hunters, and bat rays, sea lions and harbor seals appear. Surge is the main challenge, and visibility can range from very good to poor.
