Rock Quarry
Also known as: The Quarry
The site takes its name from the former quarry on shore that supplied rock for the Los Angeles harbour breakwaters, and its slope of large broken boulders resembles a breakwater. Thick kelp in the shallows holds garibaldi, blacksmith and perch, while the boulder wall from about 9 m downwards is home to scythe butterflyfish, zebra gobies, morays and rainbow scorpionfish. Sea fans grow around 18 m, and angel sharks rest on the deep sand to the east. Giant black sea bass are seen fairly often because aggregation sites are nearby.
