El Nido, on the northern tip of mainland Palawan, is the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago's 45 islands and islets, combining limestone cliffs, coral reefs and beaches within a large protected marine sanctuary.

El Nido is a municipality on the northernmost tip of mainland Palawan, situated on Bacuit Bay. It is the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago, which includes 45 islands and islets, with the highest point reaching 640 metres on Cadlao Island. The area is protected as part of the El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area, described as the largest marine sanctuary in the Philippines, covering about 903 square kilometres of combined terrestrial and marine habitat.
