Helicopter Island
Also known as: Dilumacad Island · Dilumacad - Helicopter Island
Dilumacad owes its nickname Helicopter Island to its outline. Its southern side combines a reef, a broad sandy patch and a second reef section, which dive centres split into two dives. In summer seagrass grows on the sand and green turtles come to feed, so several turtles in a single dive are common. Palawan Divers notes that all seven anemonefish species of Bacuit Bay can be found here. The sand hides blue-spotted stingrays, flounders, pipefish and garden eels, while the reef has staghorn corals, cuttlefish and ribbon eels. Being close to town, it is one of the most visited spots in the bay and is used for open water training and night dives.
