South Miniloc
Also known as: Biet Point · South Miniloc - Biet Point
South Miniloc, also called Biet Point, lies where Miniloc Island faces Simizu Island across a narrow channel. The current through this passage carries nutrients, and dive centres credit it for the density of fish on the reef. The site is famous for a large garden of cabbage coral (lettuce or yellow paperscroll coral) with sponges, over which big schools of yellow and big-eye snappers gather. Hawksbill and green turtles are frequent, and tuna, mackerel and large barracuda pass by from the blue. In the shallow garden divers look for frogfish, ribbon eels and nudibranchs. The current is usually gentle but can occasionally pick up.
