Twin Rocks
Also known as: Stingray Airport
Twin Rocks takes its name from two rocks that look separate from the surface but are connected below the waterline. The reef slopes down to a sandy bottom, and at around 16 m the sand is so crowded with blue-spotted stingrays that local guides call it the airport. Table corals, sea whips, sponges and soft corals cover the rock formations, which also hold a small cavern and swim-throughs. From December to March dive centres name it the best site in El Nido for ornate ghost pipefish. Schools of jacks, fusiliers and batfish move around the rocks, and turtles and eagle rays are seen as well. With some current it turns into a short drift, while on calm days divers circle the formations.
