Bahamas
Bimini is a small chain of islands in the northwest Bahamas, world-renowned for reliable, shallow-water encounters with great hammerhead sharks.
Located about 80 km east of Miami on the edge of the Grand Bahama Bank, Bimini overlooks the Gulf Stream, which draws pelagic shark species close to shore. The region is best known for great hammerhead shark dives conducted in shallow water just off South Bimini, peak season roughly December through April. Divers here also regularly encounter nurse, tiger, blacktip, Caribbean reef, bull and blacknose sharks, alongside reefs, walls, wrecks, blue holes and caverns.
