Bimini Barge
The barge rests upright on a sandy bottom at the north-western rim of the Great Bahama Bank, close to where the wall drops away and the Gulf Stream begins. The top of the hull is reached at roughly 20 to 23 m, while the sand around it lies at about 30 m. Big schools of fish, among them permit and African pompano, crowd the wreck, and open-water fish pass by alongside the reef species. Nurse sharks and southern stingrays often lie under or next to the hull. Currents change from day to day and can be strong, so operators recommend advanced certification.
