Atlantis Road

Also known as: Bimini Road · Road to Atlantis

The Road is a row of big, roughly square stones laid out in two nearly parallel lines west of North Bimini. Its fame goes back to Edgar Cayce, who predicted in 1936 that Atlantis would be found off Bimini in 1968, the year the formation was found. Core samples pointed to eroded beachrock, while others still see the remains of a breakwater or harbour wall. The water is only about 5 to 8 m deep, so the site suits beginners and snorkellers as much as divers. Pods of Atlantic spotted dolphins are seen in the area.
