Turtle Rocks
North, Middle and South Turtle Rock line up from north to south and separate the shallow bank from the open sea. The name does not refer to resident turtles but to large brain and star corals whose domes resemble turtle shells when the tide is low. The reef begins at around 3 m and goes no deeper than about 10 to 11 m, becoming deeper towards the south end. Grunts, angelfish, parrotfish and filefish are common, spotted eagle rays and nurse sharks pass by, and Caribbean reef sharks are seen at times. Current is usually light, which makes the site good for newer divers and snorkellers.
