Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas, known for dramatic wall diving into the deep Tongue of the Ocean trench and for hosting the largest concentration of blue holes in the world.
Andros combines three diving environments along one coastline: a barrier reef on its eastern shore, sheer walls dropping into the Tongue of the Ocean, and numerous inland and offshore blue holes. The Tongue of the Ocean is a deep oceanic channel separating Andros from New Providence, where reef gives way abruptly to walls descending thousands of meters. Andros holds the world's largest known collection of blue holes, sites that drew a Jacques Cousteau expedition in the early 1970s.
