Kenting

Taiwan

Taiwan's southern tip, protected as Kenting National Park, offering year-round shore and boat diving on fringing coral reefs, cliffs and swim-throughs shaped by the warm Kuroshio Current.

Kenting National Park covers the southern tip of the Hengchun Peninsula. About 152 square kilometres of its area is sea, with fringing reefs along coral sea cliffs on the west coast and coral tablelands in the south. The Kuroshio Current brings warm water and tropical marine life, so diving is possible all year. Kenting is regarded as the best shore diving on Taiwan's main island. Steep cliffs at the water's edge form caves and swim-throughs, and reefs host soft and hard corals, parrotfish, angelfish, sweetlips and lionfish. Well-known sites include Chu Shui Kou, Houbihu, Sail Rock and Seven Stars, where drop-offs reach about 35 metres and currents can be strong. Dive centres operate in Kenting and Hengchun, and the nearest hyperbaric chamber is in Kaohsiung. Source: Wikipedia, Taiwan Outdoors, Dive Advisor
