Octopus Hole
Also known as: Octopus Hole Conservation Area
Octopus Hole has no facilities: divers park at a small roadside pull-off on Highway 101 and climb down a rocky bank to the water. Offshore, a long rock wall with boulders runs along the shore; YSS Dive gives its top at about 15 to 20 ft and its base at 35 to 60 ft. A fallen tree leaning over the water marks the entry and points south to the reef. Octopus and wolf eels use the bigger holes and cracks, and squat lobsters, rockfish, lingcod and nudibranchs are common. The cove sees little tidal current, and PNW Diving suggests it when Sund Rock reservations are full.
