Secca dei Sei Metri
Also known as: Secca dei 6m · Secca dei 6 metri
The shoal lies off the north coast between the Sciara and the Giafante rock, its top a small emerald patch in the blue. Its walls are almost plumb vertical, so the descent feels like flying. Colourful gorgonians, Astroides colonies and encrusting sponges cover the rock, and moray eels, lobsters, octopus, groupers and scorpionfish live in its cracks. Isolated boulders near the base carry large red gorgonians, melon urchins and yellow Axinella sponges. The position attracts amberjacks and jacks that hunt the small fish along the walls.
