Teeswood

An iron steamer sunk in Skerry Sound in 1914, lying on her starboard side in very shallow water north of Churchill Barrier 2.

The Teeswood was scuttled in September 1914 and heavily salvaged after the war, and for years her wreck was confused with the Rosewood. A 2013 survey found a two-cylinder compound engine that confirmed her identity. Her propeller, rudder shaft and steering quadrant lie so shallow that parts show at low tide, and plates and ribs cover a wide area near the shore. She is the first wreck divers meet in the shallows on the Barrier 2 shore dive.
