Argyle

Also known as: Argyll

The Argyle was scuttled in Skerry Sound in September 1914, and her bow broke up soon afterwards. The remains run north to south on sand and rock, with a four-bladed cast-iron propeller, a hold winch and the engine still in place along the shaft. At low tide the top of the Scotch boiler shows above the surface. She can be entered easily from the shore at the southern end of the barrier.
