Palung-Palung

Palung-Palung, meaning "bowls", lies between the Tulamben Drop Off and Batu Kelebit and is reached by jukung in a few minutes. Overhangs, steep slopes and ridges of old lava form valleys between them, covered in hard and soft corals, with patches of black sand. Garden eels, fusiliers, redtooth triggerfish and butterflyfish fill the slopes, and bumphead parrotfish, reef sharks and turtles are common sightings. Some sea fans at 25 to 30 m host Denise pygmy seahorses. The usual current makes the dive a gentle drift with the boat following the bubbles.
