Batu Abah
Also known as: Vertigo Point
Batu Abah lies off the south-eastern tip of Nusa Penida, inside the most protected zone of the marine reserve, so local operators may only dive it for research or conservation with a permit. The site is exposed to the Lombok Strait, and currents can be very strong and change suddenly, with choppy waves on the surface. A gentle slope with branching corals, table corals, sponges and soft corals runs down to around 30 m, where it turns sandy beside a wall. Mola Mola in season, manta rays, sharks, giant trevally and dogtooth tuna are among the animals reported here. AquaMarine named the site Vertigo Point during survey dives in 2009.
