Batu Bolong

Also known as: Donut

Batu Bolong, "hollow stone", is a rock on the west side of Nusa Penida, about half an hour by boat from Toyapakeh toward Manta Point. Because the current can be strong and visibility limited, dives start with a negative entry and a fast compass-guided descent to the reef. In the channel between a smaller reference rock and the main rock, thresher sharks, eagle rays and marble rays are regular sightings, and hammerhead sharks are reported on rare occasions. Along the main wall schools of batfish, trevally and grouper gather, and Mola Mola visit between July and October. The dive ends on a shallower terrace with nudibranchs and frogfish before the safety stop in open water.
