Bat Cave

Also known as: Bat Caves · Bat Cave Point

Bat Cave takes its name from small caves just above the waterline on the eastern side of Menjangan Island, where bats rest during the day. Underwater a dramatic vertical wall drops into deep water, covered in large ear sponges, barrel sponges and huge gorgonian fans. Dives often start at Pos 2 and drift east to Bat Cave, and the drift can continue toward Temple Point. Reef fish stream along the wall, and reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays and tuna are seen in the blue. Cracks and ledges offer shelter from the current and hide lobsters, electric clams and pygmy seahorses.
