Scoglio della Grotta
Also known as: Grotta delle cipree
The rock lies near the famous sea cave where monk seals lived until the 1970s. The dive circles it to the outer point, where a Posidonia meadow begins, past walls covered with anemones, cup corals and sponges that host small groupers, golden groupers, parrotfish, moray eels and thousands of damselfish. A small passage in the rock is lined with sponges, orange cup corals and starfish and is home to the rare cowrie Luria lurida, which gives the dive its other name. Air permitting, the dive ends inside the Grotta del Bue Marino with its light effects.
