Secca di Punta Stimpagnato

Also known as: Secche di Punta Stimpagnato · Punta Stimpagnato

Below the columnar basalt cliffs of Punta Stimpagnato, near Pecorini a Mare, lies a shoal that stands out for walls literally papered with Astroides colonies and sea daisies. Small crevices hold octopus, small groupers and moray eels, and the boulders at the base are covered in tube worms, spirographs and sponges. The bottom of sand and seagrass at about 18 m makes it a good place for night dives with cuttlefish. Further offshore a second, deeper shoal with its top at 18 m drops into the blue and is reserved for experienced divers because of depth and strong current.
