Secca dell'Oro
Also known as: Scoglio dell'Oro
Three giant rock needles climb from a seabed deeper than 60 m towards the surface in very clear water. Melon urchins, long-spined urchins and countless encrusting organisms cover the vertical walls. Large moray eels, conger eels, dusky groupers, big scorpionfish and now rare spiny lobsters hide in the dens. Schools of black seabream, dentex and amberjacks often cross the top of the shoal, and the abundance of fish is why local fishermen call it the shoal of gold.
