Cala Barca (Le Tigre Wreck)
Also known as: Cala Barca · Relitto del Galeone Francese · Le Tigre
Le Tigre was part of a French expedition against Barbary pirates and sank on 22 September 1664 with the loss of 64 men. Little remains of the ship: scattered bricks from its cargo, squared stone blocks and one heavily encrusted cannon wedged between the wall and the boulders. The cliff drops to about 13 to 15 m and continues as a slope of large blocks with passages and small caves. A shallow cave at the foot of the cliff and a large natural arch further out add to the dive. Shaded walls are covered with sponges, and shoals of salema graze in the shallows.
