Little Farnsworth

Also known as: Pinnacle Rock

Little Farnsworth is a single submerged spire off Catalina's front side, sheltered from rough seas compared with its namesake on the backside but often swept by strong current. The pinnacle has a smaller inshore point and a saddle between, with a crack running under the saddle that shelters many fish. Its walls are blanketed in yellow zoanthids, corynactis anemones and red and golden gorgonians, and nudibranchs and gobies make it a top macro site. Giant black sea bass visit in late spring to early autumn. No kelp marks the spot, so it is found by GPS and depth finder.
