Gedney Island Barges
Also known as: Gedney Barges
Emerald Diving describes a pair of wooden barges, well along in their decay, that lie one behind the other on a steep soft slope in front of the marina on the northwest side of Gedney Island, from about 50 ft down to about 105 ft. A third, shallower barge near the usual anchoring spot has broken up even further. Vermilion rockfish are often seen around the wrecks. The spot is sheltered and can be dived outside slack, but boats using the marina make an unplanned ascent dangerous. Reaching it from shore is impractical, so it is a boat dive.
