Gedney Bar
Gedney Bar lies mid-channel in about 85 ft of water. Its highlight is a sponge field roughly 75 ft across where cloud sponges grow, and squat lobsters hide in their folds. Vermilion, quillback and copper rockfish shelter beside isolated rocks, while striped and giant nudibranchs, crimson anemones and tube-dwelling anemones occur on the sand. The location is fully exposed and should only be dived in calm seas, and a free ascent is common if the anchor line is not found.
