Hat Island Fish Haven
Also known as: Gedney Reef
Hat Island Fish Haven is a scattering of concrete and construction debris piles on a wide sandy slope between about 35 and 60 ft. Plumose anemones grow on the rubble, octopus use its many holes, and bottomfish crowd the piles, with big lingcod and giant Pacific octopus common. A depth sounder shows the piles as abrupt steps in the bottom. Rebar and anchors lost by other boats are snag hazards; Emerald Diving notes it has recovered lost anchors here, once its own.
