Seal Rock
Also known as: Seal Rock Maubara
Divers gear up at the roadside, climb over a low wall and enter on either side of the rock, ideally at high tide because the coral reaches close to the surface. The slope first falls gently, then drops quickly to 30 m and more. Big barrel sponges, soft corals and coral gardens with bommies hold a wide range of reef fish, batfish and nudibranchs. Hawksbill turtles pass often and large spiny lobsters hide in the shallows, with reef sharks, tuna and mackerel as lucky sightings. Wikivoyage reports currents in all directions, including downward, and treats it as a dive for experienced divers.
