Dan's Sandy Bottom

Also known as: Sandy Bottom · Gravel Pit

The site is named after the photographer and environmentalist Dan Groshong, according to Wikivoyage. A gentle sandy entry leads to a slope where large table corals, sea fans and bommies sit beside open sand. During the day reef fish crowd the corals, and turtles, tuna and Spanish mackerel may pass. After dark the sand comes alive with octopus, pygmy pipehorses, iridescent bobtail squid and many crustaceans. Dugongs, seahorses and garden eels have also been reported.
