Maubara Church

Also known as: Kindergarten

Divers gear up under shady trees west of the church and enter easily over sand and small rocks. The slope is sprinkled with sandy patches and numerous bommies covered in hard and soft corals. Nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs, batfish and lionfish are common, and turtles, tuna and mackerel cruise past. Divernet calls the bommie diving superb but warns that the shallow part of the slope makes a poor first impression. Wikivoyage mentions dolphins and whales between November and January and the restaurant in the old fort nearby.
