Smugglers Bay
Also known as: Smuggler's Cove · Smuggler's Bay
Smugglers Bay cuts so deeply into Karaada that its entrance is hard to see from the sea, which made it a hiding place for smugglers coming from the Greek islands. It is about 30 minutes by boat from Bodrum and can be dived to either side of the bay. On the right, amphorae lie at around 26 metres, and just below the surface is the entrance of a narrow, winding cave system that runs 40 to 50 metres into the island and is not recommended for divers. Small caverns on the shore hold sweepers, and the cracks in the rocks shelter moray eels, groupers, soldierfish and stingrays. Dive centres call it suitable for beginners as well as experienced divers.
