La Canna

Also known as: Scoglio della Canna

La Canna is the remnant of an extinct volcanic vent and one of the best-known dive sites of the Aeolian Islands. Boats moor near the stack on about 7 m, and the dive circles it anticlockwise. The bottom drops quickly into a field of big boulders full of holes where groupers, forkbeard, scorpionfish, moray eels, octopus and lobsters hide. Amberjacks, jacks and barracuda hunt the clouds of damselfish and saddled seabream. Thanks to the clear water, the dark silhouette of the needle stays in view for the whole dive.
