Thames

Also known as: RMS Thames

The Thames served the Royal Mail Steamship Company for her whole career, was sold for scrap in 1914 and then taken by the Admiralty and scuttled in Kirk Sound in January 1915. She lies on sand parallel to Churchill Barrier 1, and the 2013 marine archaeology survey showed she has broken down within her original outline of about 130 metres. The stern is still in place, but the propeller was salvaged and none of the main machinery is visible. The scattered wreckage covers a large area in shallow water.
